The first beginnings of handball in the area of the municipality of Čapljina date back to 1958 when the Sports Society Poljodjelac was founded, which was renamed to the Sports Society Lasta in 1968. It carried that name until 1975 when it received a new one – the Sports Society Borac. Under that name, it competes in the Republic League, and then in the II. Federal League. In 1993, the club changed its name again to HRK Čapljina, which today competes in the league of Herceg-Bosna. The club has a first team, juniors, seniors, cadets, younger cadets, and the youngest – Cicibani. The club has more than two hundred members, mostly young people from the area of the municipality of Čapljina.
