HNK "Višići"
HNK Višići is a Croatian football club from Višići near Čapljina in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The tradition of playing football in this Herzegovinian place dates back long before 1965, which is considered the year of the club's founding. According to tradition, the Youth Football Club Višići, today's HNK Višići, was registered in 1965 under the mulberry tree in front of Barić's inn. The first president was Kemal Bitanga, and the secretary was Neđo Karamatić. The executive board included Neđo Karamatić, Mile Limov, Vlado Ćorić, Anđelko Car Raguž, Rajko Udženija, Mato Blažević, and Martin Cvitanović.
The first official match Višići played was against NK GOŠK from Gabela in Metković, in the 1966/67 season, and the match ended with a score of 2:2. Due to the lack of their own playing field, they played home matches in Metković, and later in Plana in Dračevu. Only in the second half of 1967 did they acquire land on which they built their own playing field, known as Čajeri.
The construction of the first wooden changing room was led by Mile Limov, while Neđo Karamatić performed the drainage of the field. Later, solid changing rooms and accompanying facilities were built, supervised by Mato Blažević, Ante Škegro, and Zdravko Brajković. At the beginning of 2011, the changing rooms were completely renovated and adapted to modern standards.
Over the years, Višići played against numerous clubs from Herzegovina and beyond, competing in the Herzegovina League, with ups and downs. The fans were extremely loyal, often organizing additional buses for away games at their own expense.
The club played matches against top-tier teams from the former SFRY such as Velež, Sarajevo, Željezničar, Borac, Sloboda, and Čelik, as well as against clubs from lower leagues.
War and post-war period
Due to the war, the club did not operate from 1991 to 1994. After that, it continued to compete in the Second League of Herzeg-Bosnia South under the name HNK Višići.
The greatest success was achieved in the 1995/96 season when they won first place in the league by defeating NK Redarstvenik Mostar (3:2) and reached the final of the Ramsko-Neretva sub-association cup. Due to financial problems, the club withdrew from a higher level of competition, and the crisis culminated in a temporary shutdown in the 2002/03 season.
New era
The club was reactivated in 2006 and began competing in the County League of HNŽ. Already in the 2007/08 season, they secured promotion to the Second League of FBiH – South under the guidance of coach Pero Lastan Bijelica.
The 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons ended in 8th place, while the greatest success during that period was 4th place in the 2010/11 season.
Due to financial difficulties, the club withdrew from the Second League in the 2015/16 season and returned to the county rank. They returned to a higher level of competition in the 2021/22 season after winning the County League of HNŽ two years in a row under the guidance of coach Goran Bule.
