Nestled between Budisavina to the south and Crno Brdo to the north lies a green oasis - Hutovo Blato, covering an area of 7,411 ha. Numerous springs, lake-like parts, streams, ditches, dance and reeds are just a small part of the diversity that this area abounds in, where numerous plant and animal species have found conditions for life. It was formed by the inflow of karst rivers and surface waters into lake cryptodepressions where more than 235 species of birds winter. The swamp is one of three areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina that is included in IBA (Important Bird Areas) and is listed as a Ramsar site. Due to its exceptional significance and beauty, Hutovo Blato was declared a Nature Park in 1955. There are few places in the world that have such a large number of endemic species of fish, birds, and plants in such a small area.
