Gelenderi

“Gelenderi” is the name for an old metal structure - a railing (handrails) that was located in front of the church of St. Francis of Assisi. The name comes from the German word Geländer, which means railing.

This space was a well-known gathering place for citizens, young and old, at any time of the day it was known where the crew was, which is why the “gelenderi” over time became a recognizable part of everyday life and the identity of the city.

Although they have since been removed, they have been transformed into a guitar club that still operates under the same name. The gelenderi themselves remain in memory as one of the symbols of old Čapljina, and now it is up to the new guitar club to fulfill the duties of a place for socializing, making friendships, and finding love.
