The club was founded in 1973 under the name KK Borac. It played its first matches on the field next to the school. In 1974, it entered the competition in the Herzegovina zone. The club was founded in 1973 under the name KK Borac. It played its first matches on the field next to the school. In 1974, it entered the competition in the Herzegovina zone.
Throughout its existence, it competed in several competitive classes, and its greatest success in former Yugoslavia was participating in the B league.
After the war events, the club resumed operations under the name HKK Čapljina and competes in the Basketball League of Herzegovina-Bosnia. In the 1993/94 season, it won the title of champion of Herzegovina-Bosnia, while the junior categories have achieved even greater successes over the years, winning multiple championship titles.
In the 2006/07 season, the club entered the First League of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the champion of Herzegovina-Bosnia, but the following season it returned to the Herzegovina league.
